Jiinue Group's story

Jiinue Group is a group of ten farmers in Bungoma District, represented by Rita. The group has six women and four men. Rita is on the right of the photo, with her hand raised.

Farming inputs will be delivered to Rita on credit, consisting of the necessary materials to plant 0.5 acres of maize, millet, and sorghum. Rita first enrolled with One Acre Fund in 2013 and is excited for her first season as a One Acre Fund farmer. She joined One Acre Fund in order to access the best input prices, grow enough food for the family, and reduce poverty in her community.

Rita described her harvest last year as good, but believes she can have an even better one this year. She plans to use the money that she earns from her next harvest to send her children to school, invest in a cow, and, perhaps, invest in another business.

During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive 0.5 acres of agricultural inputs, on credit. In total, Jiinue Group will receive five acres worth of inputs on credit.
