A loan of $1,150 helped a member to purchase hybrid seed and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize, millet, and sorghum.

Lima Group's story

Lima Group is located in Bungoma South District. It is a group of 11 women and 7 men led by David, pictured on the right, with his hand raised.

David is receiving an input loan for 0.5 acres of maize, millet, and sorghum cultivation. David is a new farmer enrolling in the Long Rains 2013 season. He joined One Acre Fund, so that he could grow enough food for the family and use increased profits to send his children to school.

David described his harvest last year as good, but believes he can have an even better one this year. He hopes that his profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send his children to school, repair his home, invest in a cow, and, perhaps, invest in another business.

Lima Group members will each receive input loans of 0.5 acres during the 2013 Long Rains season. In total, they will receive inputs for 9 acres of maize, millet, and sorghum.
