A loan of $375 helped to buy and insure a dairy cow.

Violet's story

Violet is a twenty-nine-year-old farmer in Kitale county in Kenya where she lives with her husband and three children who are all schooling. She has been in farming for the past eight years, producing maize, beans, milk and sweet potatoes which she sells at the local market in her area. She sells fish as an additional source of income.

She is requesting a 31,200 KES loan from Juhudi kilimo to buy and insure a dairy cow. She will sell the milk and earn extra income which will help her boost her family’s income and living standards, and pay for her children’s schooling. Violet aspires to have increased her dairy production in the next five years.

Diseases and the fluctuation of prices are her major challenges in farming.
