Giovana works as a kitchen assistant in a small restaurant. She works around ten hours per day and with the fruits of her labor she can help her parents with the home expenses. She believes she is successful because she is responsible and is a good cook.
Giovana appreciates the help that Kiva lenders give her, because she will be able to buy materials to improve her parents’ house. In particular, she wants to build a fence and improve the front of the house, which will result in better safety conditions. She will continue pursuing her biggest dream: “to study gastronomy and become a great chef.”

About Housing Loans
Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
