Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $775 helped to buy blouses, dresses, pants, skirts, shirts, swimwear, cement, rebar, sand and brick for her business and her home.

Fidelina's story

Fidelina is a 65-year-old single mother, whose children are not dependent on her. She lives in a community in San Lorenzo, in the south of Honduras, and owns her own home. For the last 10 years, she has made a living selling new and used clothing. Fidelina also sells shoes and sandals, and makes her sales door to door in neighborhoods and communities in San Lorenzo. Her customers prefer her for her good prices and the variety of her products.

Fidelina is asking for this loan to buy new clothing such as blouses, dresses, pants, skirts, shirts and swimwear, and also to buy materials such as cement, rebar, sand and brick for home improvements. She is working on a project to finish building a kitchen, and is very happy to keep working with Prisma. Fidelina's dream is to be able to make improvements to her daughter's home.
