Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $850 helped to buy clothing.

Julita Andrea's story

Julita, 33, is a housewife who takes care of her two minor children. Because of her economic situation, she decided to look for new income to improve her living conditions and guarantee her children a better education. Because of her low educational level, the doors to the working world have been closed to her, so she decided to create her own business thanks to the help of her mother, who gave her some capital to start selling clothing in her town.

She gets up early every day to send her children to school. She does the domestic chores and goes out to look for new customers. This way Julita earns a living to support her family.

Her biggest dream is to be able to have a house to give her children a better quality of life. Motivated by this goal, she's requesting a loan to buy merchandise.
