Latafat's story

Latafat is a 37-year-old married woman with three children. She is an internally displaced person (IDP) and lives in Bilasuvar IDP Settlement. Latafat has bred cattle and sheep for the last 10 years. She was a housewife, but her husband is unemployed and now her business helps to cover the family's needs.

Latafat usually buys small calves or sheep, raises and fattens them for 3-6 months, and then resells them for a profit in the livestock bazaar. Her monthly income is 120 AZN and this business is only one source of income for her family. Meat is in very high demand in Azerbaijan and people use it in everyday dishes like pilau and dolma. Latafat's husband helps her to look after the livestock.

Latafat wants to expand her business and improve her family's living conditions. She applied for a loan of 700 AZN to purchase 10 lambs. This will be her fourth loan and she has a good credit history.
