Shabaz's story

Shabaz is a 53-year-old, married woman, and she has five children. She is an IDP and lives in Bilasuvar IDP Settlement. Shabaz has been breeding cattle for the past 15 years. She was a housewife, but her husband's salary was too low to cover their family's needs, so Shabaz decided to start her business. She receives 90 AZN financial support from the government monthly, but this is too low to cover the family's needs.

Shabaz usually buys small calves, raises and fattens them for five to six months, and then resells them for a profitable price in the livestock bazaar. Her monthly income is 130 AZN, and this business is the main source of financial income in her family.

Meat is in very high demand in Azerbaijan, and people use it in everyday dishes, like pilau and dolma.

Shabaz wants to expand her business and improve the living conditions of her family. She applied for a 1,100 AZN loan to purchase three cattle and fodder.
