A loan of $5,500 helped a member to purchase tree farm inputs such as eucalyptus seedlings and fertilizer and pay for technical trainings and maintenance support.

Tsuma's Group's story

Tsuma is a 37-year-old agriculture and butterfly farmer. He and his wife, who is also a farmer, have two children. Tsuma's major challenge in his farming is the shortage of rainfall. He joined the KOMAZA microforestry program because "agro-forest improves rainfall scarcity and improves the nature of the surroundings." When Tsuma realizes profits from his tree farm, he says, "I hope to educate [my] children, construct a good house and improve the diet for the family." He appreciates the support KOMAZA provides with inputs, seedlings and trainings, as well as working with other farmers.
