A loan of $400 helped purchase tree trunks for house roofs.

Elizabeth's story

Elizabeth is 26 years old. She has a beautiful life with her husband, Marcial, who is also 26 years old. They are blessed with two children, Misael, who is 8, and Jarol, who is 2. They feel committed to developing and growing their family. They live in a house made of quality materials. They used to sell meals at the grocery market in their area, but they opted to leave that business temporarily in order to give their little one, Jarol, all the attention he needs. This is when, along with Marcial, they chose to gather enough capital to form a small group of bricklayers and hired hands to build homes out of good materials. Having a husband who has been working in this field for 20 years, the couple is well received among their neighbors, whom they provide services to, such as cementing and putting the finishing touches on walls with the help of their two nephews who used to be unemployed. Elizabeth is pleased with the way things have been going since, up until now, things have gone well and they have had normal income to financially support their family. In the future, they hope to also start construction on their own home with quality materials and to get an additional piece of land because they are thinking of their children's futures. This is their first loan through Kiva partner MFP. They are very grateful for the way the bank members have confidence in them. They promise to make their loan payments on time. Elizabeth needs 1,000 nuevos soles to purchase tree trunks, which are used as support for filling roofs with concrete, which her husband will do.
