Joyce's story

Joyce is 45 years old and lives in the town of Bombo, in the Luwero region of Uganda. She is married and has four children, two of them currently in school. For the past 13 years, Joyce has been working hard to manage her tailoring business.

To help expand her business, Joyce has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. She will use the loan to buy more materials for making school uniforms and other clothes. This will help Joyce to generate greater profits and improve the economic situation of her family. Joyce hopes that in the future, she will be able to expand her business into a boutique.

Joyce is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program serves primarily small entrepreneurs like Joyce, who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
