Fatoumata's story

Born in February 1973, Fatoumata lives with her 3 children and her husband in a nuclear family environment in the rural commune of Tiele. Fatoumata quickly became interested in revenue-generating activities, working alongside her aunt who sold various articles. After several years of experience with her aunt, Fatoumata decided to buy and sell produce such as cereals (millet, fonio and corn), black-eyed peas, groundnuts and bissap.

Having properly repaid the 5 previous loans, Fatoumata is on her 6th individual loan from Soro Yiriwaso, which will be used to buy 40 bags of millet from the farmers of Tiele, Bassuan and Dialakoro, and, on rare occasions, from the local wholesalers. She makes her sales for cash or credit, from her home and at the Tiele and surrounding markets, to a retail clientèle essentially made up of consumers. Fatoumata hopes to made a monthly profit of 100 000 francs, which will be used to help her husband meet the family's needs, to repay the loan and to reinvest in her business.
