A loan of $1,475 helped a member to buy new stock of shoes.

Dembe Development Association Group's story

Julius is 34 years old, a member of the Development Association group, and a widower whose wife passed away during labor and left him with 3 children and all of them go to school.

Julius is a market vendor mainly dealing in the sale of shoes in the Nakulabye market. He started this job in 2003 since it was the easiest business to start with the little capital he had. Julius’s major challenge is reduction in his capital base, because he has to divert most of his profits to the treatment of his child who is suffering from tuberculosis. This has greatly affected his business. Julius’s major customers are people who visit the market from where he operates. He will stock new shoes to sell to students who are going back to school using the funds from the loan.

Julius is very hardworking, social and honest. He has dreams of expanding his business with the loan that will be given to him and looking after his children by providing for them all their basic needs. He is confident that the relationship between him and UGAFODE Micro finance will flourish.
