Muyayi North Group's story

Teresa is a member of Muyayi North Group in Bungoma South District. She is pictured with 10 One Acre Fund farmers — six women and four men. Teresa is standing on the right with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for half an acre of maize, millet and sorghum cultivation. Teresa first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2006 Long Rains season and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Teresa joined One Acre Fund in order to access the best input prices of fertilizer and hybrid seeds as well as to learn more about proper farming.

Prior to joining One Acre Fund, Teresa was only able to harvest 1.5 bags of maize per 1 acre, but after One Acre Fund's Long Rains 2012 season, she was able to harvest eight bags per half acre! She plans on using future profits from the harvest to save for the future and send her children to school.

During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive half an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Teresa's group will receive 5 acres worth of inputs on credit.
