Kimoyi Group's story

Susy is a member of Kimoyi Group in Bungoma South District. She is pictured with 14 One Acre Fund farmers, 11 women and 3 men. Susy is standing on the right with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for ½ an acre of maize, millet and sorghum cultivation. Susy first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2010 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Susy joined One Acre Fund in order to access the best input prices and grow enough food for the family.

Prior to joining One Acre Fund, Susy was only able to harvest 3 bags of maize per ½ acre, but after joining One Acre Fund during the Long Rains 2012, she was able to harvest 10 bags per ½ acre! She plans on using future profits from the harvest to save for the future and perhaps invest in another business.

During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Susy's group will receive 7 acres worth of inputs on credit.
