A loan of $3,825 helped a member buying stucco.

Chavelas Group's story

The "CHAVELAS" communal bank will begin their second loan with Pro Mujer, as part of the Collpani Regional Hub. The group is made up of nine members and led by a management board with Rose Mary as the President.

The businesses that the members of the communal bank carry out are varied. Among them are: plaster handicraft, selling frescos, blanket knitting and selling juice, selling used-clothing, a video shop, selling coffee and food, a bookshop and a stationary shop.

The loan they receive will benefit small micro-businesswomen where Rose Mary is a member. She says that she has been a member of Pro Mujer for three years, joining by invitation from her mother who is an associate of the institution. At present she has a business producing plaster handicraft; she says that she learnt this business from her mother, who also relies on this same business. Subsequently with a loan from our institution's Pro Mujer, she created her own business.

The loan that she will now take out is for the increase of capital (buying stucco) that she will acquire from the distributors and the subsequent production. She will sell it in the traditional exhibition at the artisan fair. This form of work allows her to generate resources to maintain her home as much as possible, as she is married. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replied that she likes the health and loan training.

In this group: Rose Mary Lidya, Angelica Sabina , Albertina Salome , Ana , Reyna Karina, Justina , Juana Lidia , Elvira , Flora
