A loan of $400 helped to buy several chickens.

Maria's story

María del Pilar is 48 years old. She is a hardworking single mother. She lives with her 2 children, whom she cares for in the house she inherited from her mother 10 years ago. Since she started her family she has had to go through a lot of financial hardships. Her main income back then was based in agriculture, planting different food crops. But a few years ago, she had a business idea and rented a centrally located place in the city market where she sells chicken by the kilo and in parts. She does her job with the help of sister, who assists in serving customers. “It's going well for me. I start selling very early but by noon I have sold out of all of the chicken I have. Also, during holidays I sell a lot more," she says. Now she wants to increase her capital to make more income. She belongs to the “Los Emprendedores” support group. This is her fourth loan with MFP, and she is grateful for the support. With it, she will achieve her goals. She also promises to make her payments. She likes being a part of her association, because they have known each other for many years.

María del Pilar will invest the money in buying several chickens to sell, because she moves a considerable amount of working capital every day.
