A loan of $600 helped to buy fabric, thread, paint, wood, and wood bases.

Luis Alberto's story

Luis, 49, lives in Soledad in the department of Atlántico with his wife and 8-year-old daughter. Using his talent and natural skills, he has been making handicrafts and clothing for 12 years. Deciding to take advantage of these skills, Luis began making cards, clipboards, napkin rings, frames, and all the things his creativity allowed and his customers' desires called for.

The business is successful, and slowly he has improved it. Today his goal is to make better quality products and export them. To meet this challenge, he is using social networks and "knocking on a lot of doors." He is applying for his first Kiva loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo to buy fabric, thread, paint, wood, and wood bases. He has many outstanding orders, but he lacks working capital to fill them and meet the demand that will make this Kiva investment successful.
