A loan of $775 helped to improve her passion fruit garden by buying pesticides and paying her laborers.

Goreth's story

Goreth is a single mother, 40 years old. She is engaged in agriculture, particularly growing passion fruits.

She applied for a loan of UGX 2,000,000 (two million shillings) to improve her passion fruit garden by buying pesticides and paying her laborers.

Goreth has four children and all of them go to school. Apart from growing passion fruits, Goreth also grows tomatoes. She works six days a week and most of her customers come from Kampala, where the demand for passion fruit is high. Also, local people, schools, and hospitals are her daily customers. Goreth has been doing this for the last two years and has been able to take care of and educate her siblings.

With this loan, Goreth hopes she will be able to improve upon the quantity and quality of passion fruits produced. This will, in turn, help her to raise money to pay back the loan and, later, buy more land, so that she can expand her business.
