Upendo Group's story

Felix’s group consists of 17 farmers (4 men and 13 women) located in Bungoma South District. Felix is pictured at the right of the photo with his hand raised. He will receive input loans to enable him to plant ½ an acre with millet, sorghum and maize. Felix joined One Acre Fund during the Long Rains 2012, and is now enrolling in the Long Rains 2013 season. Felix joined One Acre Fund so that he could access the best input prices and use his increased profits to send his children to school.

Felix described his last year's harvest as poor, but believes he can have a better one this year. He hopes that his profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to repair his home and to invest in livestock. Felix’s group members will each receive input loans of ½ an acre during the 2013 Long Rains season, for a total of 8.5 acres of maize and sorghum.
