Tatayyira Group's story

Meet the members of the “Tatayyira” group from Magburaka, a town in northern Sierra Leone. They are all local entrepreneurs who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva, to apply for a loan of 700,000 Leones each. With the help of this loan they will be able to expand their businesses, make more sales and consequently improve on their living conditions.

Maseray (who is pictured 3rd from right) is the featured leader of this group. The 32-year-old is married to a trader and they have three children who are attending primary schools. Maseray has been a businesswoman for ten years now. She sells body lotions, toothbrushes, soaps, etc. With her share of this loan, she will buy the above mentioned items at wholesale to add to her current stock.
