A loan of $700 helped a member to purchase hybrid seed and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize, millet, and sorghum.

Waaminifu A Group's story

Agneta is a member of Waaminifu A Group in Bungoma South District. She is pictured with 11 One Acre Fund farmers, 10 women and 1 man. Agneta is standing on the right with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for ½ an acre of maize, millet and sorghum cultivation. Agneta joined One Acre Fund during the Long Rains 2011, and is now enrolling in the Long Rains 2013 season. Agneta joined One Acre Fund so that she could access the best input prices, hybrid seed and fertilizer.

Agneta described her last year's harvest as poor, but believes she can have a better one this year. She plans to use the money that she earns from her next harvest to send her children to school and perhaps to invest in another business. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Agneta’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each, for a total of 5.5 acres of land.
