Umoja B Group's story

Anne is a member of Umoja B Group, in Bungoma South District. She is pictured with 17 One Acre Fund farmers, 12 women and 5 men. Anne is standing on the right, with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for ½ an acre of maize, millet and sorghum cultivation. Anne joined One Acre Fund during the Long Rains season of 2010, and now she is enrolling in the Long Rains 2013 season. Anne joined One Acre Fund so that she could gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer, and use her increased profit to send her children to school.

Anne described her last year's harvest as poor, but she believes she can have a better one this year. She hopes that her profit from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to purchase a piece of land and invest in livestock.

During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Anne’s group will receive 8.5 acres worth of inputs on credit.
