Seam's Group's story

An elderly woman originally from Moung Russey district of Battambang province, Seam is a 60-year-old widow and mother of two children who live independently as they also have their own family. To support her daily living, she farms on two hectares of farmland. She has 10 years of experience involving rice cropping which earns her about 16,700 KHR per day. Head has been with VisionFund, Kiva’s partner for the past five cycles. She has used the past loan wisely to upgrade her living status and to improve her income, generating activities in a gradual manner. Now, she joins a microloan group consisting of two members. She is requesting 1,400,000 KHR, whereas her co-borrower is applying for 1,200,000 KHR. In this cycle as the group leader, she is going to spend her loan portion on potash, insecticide, and to pay for labor fees. She hopes to gain more yield than last year and make more income to sustain her living.
