A loan helped a member to pay labor costs for harvesting rice.

Khom's Group's story

Khom, 52, lives with her husband and five children in a rural village of the Moung Russey district of Battambang province, Cambodia. She and her husband have struggled to feed and care for their children by farming rice on five-hectare of farmland and fishing which they have been in the business for thirty-two years. Together, they can earn about 50,000 KHR per day and manage to save about 25,000 KHR each day for the future.

Khom has been with VisionFund for four cycles and completely paid back the past loans. The previous loans have helped her to relieve her family’s burden and improve their lives. Now she is the leader of a group of four and seeks another loan. Khom, who is the leader, will use her portion to pay the labor costs for harvesting rice. She hopes to increase her crop yield so as to extend her rice-farming in order to improve her living’s condition.
