A loan of $525 helped to buy food products for stocking her small general store and to buy uniforms and clothing to sell.

Maria Petronila's story

María is 36 years old, a single mother, and has a daughter. She lives with her father and her daughter in a village in the municipality of Puerto Cortes. Maria has always had a business, and 11 years ago, set up her own small general store where she sells basic staples, cleaning products, soft drinks, snacks, pills, condiments, etc. In addition, she sells clothing, uniforms, and other products that her customers ask for.

She has applied for two loans from ODEF, including the current one, which is for 10,000 lempiras. With this loan she is going to stock her store with clothing, school uniforms, as well as more food products for the general store.

She invested this loan with the aim of increasing inventory and sales in her business, taking advantage of the back-to-school season. Her goal is to continue growing as a businessperson, and to offer a better quality of life to her family.
