Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $600 helped to buy fertilizer, compost, insecticide to avoid plagues, and balanced food for fish.

Viviana Vanessa's story

Viviana is a 24-year old woman who lives with her partner and her son in the Recinto Terrenal, which is part of Cantón Pueblo Viejo in Provincia de los Ríos. The Recinto Terrenal is known for its agricultural and livestock work.

Viviana works in agriculture cultivating corn and has a breeding center for trouts. She plans to use the requested loan to buy inputs, such as fertilizer, compost, insecticide to avoid plagues, and balanced food for fish. She will purchase all of these in the town of Pueblo Viejo.

Her dream is to have the financial means to provide her son with an education and for him to become a good professional. In her free time, she likes to bake, embroider and and weave.
