Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Jumwa's story

Jumwa is a resident of Mariakani, Kenya. She is a married mother of four children and runs a food cafe which has been in operation for five years. She has been a casual worker and it's from this that she obtained capital to start the cafe.

Jumwa was introduced to Milango by her friends and is asking for a loan of 15,850 Kenya shillings to buy sugar, baking flour, frying oil, cereals, cooking utensils, etc.

Jumwa believes she can save the extra income for the education of her children and also use the money to open a larger cafe or a restaurant in future.
