A loan of $400 helped to buy awning and maintain his food cart.

Gilberto Antonio's story

“We human beings are always full of dreams, for they are what allow us to feel alive and fulfilled on earth.” With these words, Gilbert, who is 56 years old, explains to us what motivates him to get up each day full of drive and heartfelt dedication to his work His priority is his family and he is ready to make any sacrifice for them. Their well being and happiness are his greatest reward.

Due to a lack of opportunity because of little education Gilberto saw the need to be self employed and to start his own business. Consequently for about 15 years he has been a street vendor selling fried potatoes and pork rinds in order to feed his household. He is satisfied with his work because, thanks to it, he has been able to survive. Currently he wants to improve his cart and he is requesting a loan to purchase a canopy that will protect him from the rain and avoid loss of sales. He also needs to do maintenance on his food cart.
