A loan of $850 helped to buy appliances, rockers and dishes to sell.

Elsa Edith's story

Elsa lives in the southwestern part of the city with her family. She is 65 years old and works every day selling merchandise on credit. She has 24 years experience and started her commercial activity when she saw the need of buying on credit among her neighbors and friends for whom it was difficult to acquire basic necessity items for their homes. She sells on credit and makes her purchases up front at stores that offer the best prices. So far, she has received 20 loans with which she has been able to build some capital for her business, increasing the number of customers and selling on the terms they need to acquire the merchandise so she can gain their loyalty. Right now, she is applying for a Kiva loan with which she will buy appliances, rockers and dishes. Her customers have asked for these items in her pre-sales activity, which she still does. This is why her investment is successful, because she fills the orders of her best buyers and because she really knows the plaza and market that surround her daily tasks.
