A loan of $650 helped to buy plants and roots to grow vegetables.

Benjamin Rafael's story

Benjamin is a married man and father of six adult children who lives with his wife in the town of Sabanagrande. He is very dedicated to the land and to raising small farm animals. He still remembers how 16 years ago an old friend left him in charge of caring for a farm and he learned how to work with the livestock. Today he cultivates plants and sells them in his nursery located in the town where he gained his experience many years ago. He has many goals, but the main one is to grow his business because he plans to later make renovations to his home in order to be more comfortable. This is his first loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo and it is a Kiva loan. With it he will buy plants and roots to grow vegetables, increase his sales potential, and grow his credit history since it has been difficult to obtain good financing without it. This is the reason behind his Kiva loan, with which he will overcome the difficult access to funding sources and he will increase his sales opportunities with a better offering of plants.
