Sheku O.'s Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva, based in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, is very pleased to present to you this group of teachers from the small town of Waterloo, near Freetown, Sierra Leone’s capital city. These teachers have come to SMT to request a loan of 6,000,000 Leones for the entire group in order to meet their immediate financial challenges. At the end of each month, they will repay the loan using their monthly salaries.
Sheku is the featured leader of this group. The 49 year old is a native of a place call Pangure. He is married to a teacher and the couple has three children. Sheku has been a professional teacher for 24 years now. He has requested this loan in order to purchase building materials for the construction of a dwelling house.
