A loan of $850 helped to buy creams, perfumes, jewelry and shoes.

Xiomara Elizabeth's story

The village bank Por un Nuevo Amanecer meets every 15 days in the canton of Montecristi, known for its rich pre-colonial culture and for nationally and internationally recognized artisan crafts. They are famous for their straw hats.

Xiomara, 31, lives here. She is in a civil union and has two children, ages 13 and 6. Her older child is in high school and the younger in elementary. Her husband is a chauffeur.

Xiomara is a very good wife and mother, and she works as a merchant. She sells shoes from catalogs, along with products from Avon, Lebel and Yanbal (perfumes, creams, jewelry and other things). She sells door to door three days a week to take orders, which she delivers on credit and collects payment every 8 days. She has been doing this for 6 years and it's going very well.

This loan is to buy creams, perfumes, jewelry and shoes. She has been part of this village bank since the beginning and likes it because the loans are quick and don't have a lot of requirements.

Her dream is to give her children the best.
