A loan of $600 helped to buy more guinea pigs and nutritionally balanced food for them.

Celia's story

Celia, 31, is a modest woman. She lives with her husband Elmer and their 2 children, Elmer and Diego who she cares for in the home she bought three years ago. She says that she very much enjoys working in agriculture, with her main specialty being that of rearing guinea pigs, and she now wants to start raising cattle as she considers milk production to be a good source of income. "For the moment, my main income comes from the purchase and sale of guinea pigs," says Celia. She is very good at her job, so much so that she works with a marketing company, selling guinea pig meat to the main supermarkets in the country.

Her working capital is a rotating one and she always needs liquid assets given that the business needs on average 300 guinea pigs per week, this is the reason for which she needs to buy them from other farmers. Her secret is rearing guinea pigs with grass which she produces herself as well as nutritionally balanced food so that they go with a lot of nutrients.

This is Celia’s 17th loan with MFP where she hopes to rely on its collaboration to continue with its objectives. She promises once again to meet the repayments. She also enjoys being part of her communal bank because all the members are responsible and very supportive. Celia will invest the money in the purchase of more guinea pigs and nutritionally balanced food for them.
