Sulaiman is one of UGAFODE Microfinance Limited – Rukungiri's customers who joined about seven years ago. He has various businesses, although his main source of income is cattle slaughtering. He is a butcher and he operates in different markets in Bwambara, especially during market days. He joined UGAFODE Microfinance Limited for financial assistance to increase his business sales and income of the household. With his loan, he will buy cows and goats for slaughter.

He has been able to improve his businesses and has managed to meet the responsibilities of the home. In this regard, all activities he does are of high quality and come with experience, in terms of slaughtering animals and marketing his cows and goats to the different consumers.

Sulaiman has managed to increase the capacity of his butchery business as well as the rice plantations at his home in rural Rukungiri. He has also put all eight of his children in school since he now has the capacity of paying school fees for them, plus taking care of the other family needs for the children and his wife.

He thanks UGAFODE Microfinance Limited for all the services, but says that the institution should reduce on the interest rate to enable him to increase his profits.

More information about this loan

This loan is part of UGAFODE's program for clients who live in isolated rural areas with limited access to financial services. The organization believes that the risk of offering services to remote clients is outweighed by the benefits to customers and their often underserved communities.
