Christina's story

Christina lives in the Nanyuki area of Central province, Kenya. She is a married mother of four children. She owns a tea tree farming business, a business which she has been operating for one year now. She also has been doing farming, mainly planting maize, beans and potatoes. The oil from the tea tree is used to manufacture cosmetics.

She learnt about Milango through a friend who invited her to the group; she joined the group with an aim of accessing credit to better her business operations. The main challenge she faces is lack of water.

Christina is applying for a loan of 10,734 Kenya shillings to buy tea tree seedlings for the business. Her extra income from the loan will be added to the savings to expand the agricultural business. Her future plan in five years time is to expand the acreage under tea trees and also open a grocery stall.
