A loan of $475 helped to purchase bags of maize to prepare her banku (a local dish made from corn dough and served with soup or stew) for sale.

Agartha's story

Agartha is a food vender. She cooks banku (a local dish made from corn dough and served with soup or stew) for sale. She serves it with okra and fish stew. This she has done for five years. She lives together with her husband in Edukrom near Cape Coast. She is married and has five children. Her husband is a trader. She uses her income to assist her husband in paying their children’s school fees.

Her loan will be used to purchase bags of maize to prepare her banku for sale. She hopes to use the new profits from her expanded business to create a place for her customers to eat.
