A loan of $1,375 helped to buy fabric and other supplies for her home based tailoring workshop.

Yina Marisol's story

In the city of Tosagua the communal bank Amistad meets twice a month. This place is known to be very dynamic where most people work in agriculture and with livestock as it is an area with a lot of vegetation.

Yina lives here. She is 48 years old. She is married and they have three children 30, 23, and 19 years old. The youngest of them studies at university and two of them are still living with her. Her husband works in agriculture.

Yina years ago learned tailoring at a center in the city. Today she works as a teacher in a local school but she also has a tailoring shop at home. There she works making all types of clothing, working by orders from particular people who know the quality of her work. She works every day from 6:00AM until 2:00PM at school and after that until 10:00PM in her workshop although sometimes she works much later if she has to deliver some outfit. She has had her workshop for more than 10 years and thanks to God she is doing very well.

This is her ninth loan. She is going to use it to buy fabric and other supplies for sewing. She has been with the communal bank for ten years and she likes it because the loans are always a great help.

Her dreams are to have a larger workshop and to continue teaching.
