A loan of $800 helped buy tools such as a hammer, sledge hammer, chisels etc.

Julio Oswaldo's story

Julio is 38 years old. He lives in the town of Camana which is known for its beautiful beaches, wide range of food (especially the renowned and tasty shrimp soup), and its agriculture. Rice, beans, corn etc. are grown there.

Julio is a single father of a 10-year old daughter whom he has raised with much dedication. He would give his life to see her happy. Because he is poor, he was only able to go grade 5 of secondary school but he would like to have gone to university.

Julio is a builder by trade. He works around ten hours per day and can see up to six customers per day--it all depends on the size of what he is building. He believes his business is going well because he is responsible with his work.

He is very grateful to Kiva donors since it is thanks to their help that he will be able to buy tools such as a hammer, sledge hammer, chisels etc. In this way he will have the tools necessary to carry out his work, and he will be able to earn more money as he won’t have to rent equipment. He will be able to continue his daily effort and fulfill his dream of owning his own house and providing his daughter with a good life.
