Florence's story

Florence is married with three children, two of whom go to school. She also takes care of additional family members (grand children). She has a business selling cereals and has been in this business for ten years. She generates additional income through making and selling liquid soap, and farming. She sells on a retail basis and works in a shop she rents. She works seven days out of every week. She has applied for a loan of Uganda shillings 2000000 from MCDT-SACCO to buy more bags of beans and ground nuts and boxes of raw materials for making liquid soap. Her major business challenges include seasonality, thieves, and transportation of commodities from Kampala to her shop. She aspires to own a big factory making liquid soap and also to own a fully stocked retail shop. She resides in her own house and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees, feeding the family and paying for utility bills.
