Pheng's Group's story

Pheng, age 49, is the leader of this group of two borrowers living in a rural village in Kampong Cham province’s Ponhea Krek district. She and her husband have seven children, four of whom are still dependent on her and one of whom is still in school. Pheng and her husband earn a living through farming rice on two and a half hectares of farmland and growing cassava on two hectares of farmland. They have earned an income through this activity for 28 years. The current business earns Pheng about 29,000 KHR per day and she manages to save about 9,000 KHR each day for the family's future needs.

Pheng is requesting her second microloan with VisionFund. She and her fellow borrower are requesting a loan of 1,000,000 KHR each. Pheng is going to use her loan funds to pay for labor fees for harvesting her rice and will use a portion of it to buy fertilizer for her cassava planting. She hopes to increase more crop yield from her plantation business, improve her standard of living, and keep her child in school.
