A loan of $1,000 helped to buy three young bullocks to fatten and to pay an outstanding debt.

Amparo's story

Amparo is 55 years old, has a partner and a son. Her and her partner make a living as farmers, a profession she learned thanks to her parents.

Every day, she gets up at 4:00 a.m. to prepare breakfast for her son so he can go to school. Then she and her partner go to the land where they grow their crops, which is a thirty minute walk away. She returns home at midday. To buy supplies, she has to walk for twenty-five minutes to the bus stop, and then take a thirty minute bus ride to the city. She then has to pay a cart driver to take the supplies to her home.

Amparo is requesting a loan from Fundación Campo to buy three bullocks to fatten and to pay an outstanding debt. With this loan, she can pay the debt she incurred due to a drought which caused her crops to fail. She will feed the bullocks with the remains of her failed harvest in order to fatten then up and then sell them.

Her aim is to continue working and save up to build a brick house, since her current house is made of adobe and isn't in a very good condition. She also wants to help her son so he can study and go to university.
