A loan of $1,575 helped to buy organic fertilizer for her next crop.

Juana's story

Juana is forty-nine years old and lives in the company of Paulino, her husband. Together, they have four children. All the children are still minors and so Juana and her husband care for them in the house they bought fifteen years ago.

Every day, Juana and her husband go out to care for the corn and potato crops on their own lands, which they tend with great care. She likes agriculture a lot. She saw a way of using the leftover fertilizers and seeds, and built a nursery in her home where she plants diverse herbs and vegetables. This serves Juana for her own use: "In this, I don't spend a lot on food for my children; furthermore, [the herbs and vegetables] are of a good quality, since they are organic," she says.

In the harvest season, she sells her products in the city of Huancayo, where she also brings her nursery foods to sell; she is already an expert of the city and of the businesspeople there. She currently has two cows that she thinks of feeding and fattening in order to be able to milk them and thereby make cheese. She hopes to solidify her new project, and to also sell these products in the city, taking advantage of the trips she already makes to trade the products from her own harvests.

This is her sixth loan with MFP. She gives thanks for the opportunity offered to her, since she already will be able to improve her business. In this, she promises to be punctual with the payments of her installments. She likes to work within this organization, where all the people are responsible and supportive.

Juana will invest the loan money in the purchase of organic fertilizer for her next crop.
