Madine's story

Madine is 56 years old, married and the mother of seven. She lives with her husband and children in the Missira district of Ségou.
Having left school early, she quickly started earning a living, in particular selling food condiments. Her high sales volume is due to her thorough knowledge of this business sector. She has a large number of customers, mostly women. With the goal of bolstering her working capital in order to stock up in large quantities and reduce delivery charges, she has turned to Soro Yiriwaso, and is on her first individual loan. She plans to use this loan to by 428 kg [about 944 lbs] of “fakoye” (a very popular condiment in Mali, especially in the North). She stocks up locally.

Madine sells for cash and on credit to a customer base composed of both men and women. She anticipates to earn a monthly income of 25,000 West African francs, which will allow her to stabilize her business.
