Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,300 helped a member to begin construction of a house.

Kulambiro Prudent Group's story

Mary is 38 years old and lives with eight family members in Kulambiro, a suburb of Kampala. She survives by brick making. The business started way back in 2005 to supplement her fruit selling grocery in order to raise more income to meet the increasing responsibility of supporting orphans that came into her care.

Her biggest challenge is inadequate capital to buy fire wood and pay wages for her worker.

Mary has decided to get a loan of 350,000. She wants to start building her own home and her dream is to complete the house in the next 2 years .
