A loan of $2,600 helped to buy a small generator for the beauty shop.

Shagul's story

Shagul is a young 27 year-old Iraqi woman. She is married and has no children yet.

Shagul is the owner of a beauty salon where she works as a hair dresser and beautician. She has five years experience with her shop and she is proud of her achievements. She is constantly working on improving the services and general experience for her customers. In the past, she took a loan which she used to buy mirrors for the salon, an A/C unit and some small decorations for the shop. Having successfully repaid that loan, she is now taking a new loan to buy a small generator for the shop which will make it easier for her to work during the hours when the city power is off. She will also add some new decorations to the shop to make it nicer. Shagul is now taking a loan in the amount of 2600 USD from Kiva partner Relief International - Microfinance Iraq.

Shagul is under 30, and as such qualifies for a youth loan.
