Mamie's story

Mamie lives in the town of Kakata, the capital of Margibi County, which is the largest rubber plantation in Liberia. She is 36 years old, married, and has four children between 1 and 18 years old, who live at home. Only three are in school. Mamie did not attend school. For the past six years, she has been selling palm oil in the local market. She started this business with help from her husband, and she learned the business from her friends. She is applying for a loan to buy more palm oil for her business. She enjoys her business and the profit she receives every day. Her plan is to build a house for her children.
