A loan of $575 helped a member to pay for purchasing clothes to offer for sale.

Al-Widad Group's story

Al-Widad is a group of five women from Taiz, Yemen. They have asked for a loan in the amount of 120,000 YER to purchase women's and children's clothes, perfumes, and incense to offer for sale.

Samr, age 29, is the leader of the group. Although she is illiterate, she does not want the same thing to happen with her four children. She wants them to go to school and become educated, but for her to meet this goal, she needs to obtain more money. Her husband's monthly income is very low, so she wants to start up a small business. She intends to sell women's and children's clothes to earn an income, and for this reason she has asked for a loan in the amount of 30,000 YER. She intends to sell clothing to the households in her neighborhood as a first step.

Samr looks forward to accumulating enough money to build a small house for her family and to ensure better living standards for her family.
