Thy's story

Mr. Thy S. (photographed with the duck’s feed behind him), 51, and his wife, Mrs. Kan Chea, 51, live in a Phnom Penh suburb. They were married in 1981 and have one son and two daughters. Two of their children are married and raise ducks, and the youngest daughter is a garment factory worker.

Mr. Thy and his wife have been in the business of raising ducks since 1990. Currently, they are raising 550 ducks at the farm near the house. They sell the duck eggs at a market not very far from their home. He is requesting a loan of US$600 to purchase feed for raising ducks.
