Phyroth's Group's story

Phyroth is an elderly man of 50. He is married and has four daughters, all of whom are currently going to school. He and his family live in a rural village of the Sa Ang district in Cambodia's Kandal province. Phyroth is in an agricultural business, farming rice on 3.5 hectares of farmland. Having been in the rice-growing business for more than 20 years, he is able to earn around 10,000 KHR per day and save approximately 4,000 KHR after offsetting the daily cost of living. Phyroth is leading a loan group of five members, who are all first-time borrowers with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner; all them are taking out loans in amount of 160,000 KHR each. As a group representative, Phyroth will utilize his loan portion to build a latrine. Phyroth would be so satisfied that, via the help of the requested loan portion, he can create a healthier environment in which his family can live as well as avoid using unsanitary practices.
